Matchbox mementos of the Sea
I needed a little, less expensive item to sell at my market stall, so I came up with these little trinkets.
The first time someone asked me what they were I blathered on so I have come up with the term "a memento of the sea". Some people are still puzzled of course.
I use linen backed maps and decorate with a hand carved stamp and I think they are quite sweet which is the main comment I get about them.
Anybody need some unhoused matches? I need to start making match sculptures
I am going to become a regular at Tynemouth market on sundays, building up to Christmas. I am going to use it as an opportunity to try out new products and make old products more saleable. I'm very glad to have a short term business focus and I hope to meet lots of interesting folks too.
So here is new product No 1.
I am putting to use years of collected postal packaging, with the main feature being a padded envelope front cover. I love the feel of these envelopes and they make a substantial cover. I am also a big fan of postal graphics. Send me an envelope covered in postal clutter and I couldn't be happier.
So my Post Box Book feels substantial yet squishy, looks quirky and individual and is fully top notch recycled - Queue up here to purchase!
I have moved further North with lots and lots of bits of paper, to make hand bound books by the Sea.
